Ten defendants were sentenced and three pleaded guilty in Logan County Common Pleas Court over the last week.
The cases were before Judge William Goslee and Assigned Judge Mark O’Connor.
On June 16th, before Judge Goslee:
Alyssa Taflinger, 26, of Lima, was sentenced to eight years in prison for six counts of theft, twelve counts of petty theft, eleven counts of vandalism, one count of criminal damaging, and two counts of burglary.
In February, Taflinger and her boyfriend, Larry Lyle III, 26, of Lima, were indicted for a series of burglaries over several months at 10 different campgrounds involving 34 campers.
Taflinger was indicted on one count of burglary (F2), 29 counts of burglary (F3), two counts of attempted burglary (F4), 15 counts of vandalism (F5), six counts of theft (F5), 17 counts of petty theft (M1), and 15 counts of criminal damaging (M2).
Lyle was indicted on one count of burglary (F2), 30 counts of burglary (F3), two counts of attempted burglary (F4), 15 counts of vandalism (F5), six counts of theft (F5), 18 counts of petty theft (M1), and 15 counts of criminal damaging (M2).
On December 28th, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on County Road 18 near County Road 43 after observing a suspicious vehicle leave the Oak Crest Campground, 4226 County Road 187, Bellefontaine, around 6 p.m.
Deputies identified the driver as Lyle.
Taflinger was in the passenger seat.
During the stop, Kevin Lanham, 55, of Madison, Indiana, approached and told deputies that he had just arrived to the campground and observed a suspicious vehicle at his campsite.
Lanham saw Lyle hurry out of his camper and flee the campground.
Inside the camper, a television had been pulled away from the wall and other items had been moved.
Deputies noticed damage to the lock on the door.
Lyle told deputies that he had been at his grandmother’s campsite, but campground owners reported that no one by Lyle’s grandmother’s name is listed at the campsite.
Earlier this month, Lyle was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
On June 15th, before Judge O’Connor:
Johnny Jackson, 38, of Lima, was sentenced to three years in prison for burglary.
On June 19th, before Judge Goslee:
Jami McKinnon, 34, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to four years in prison for failure to comply with the signal of a police officer and possession of heroin. Her community control from a prior case was suspended upon her release from prison.
James Gilliam Jr., 34, of Belle Center, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing is scheduled for July 24th.
On June 13th, before Judge Goslee:
Shakilah White, 25, of Lima, was sentenced to 90 days in the Logan County Jail, five years community control, a six-month license suspension, and ordered to pay a $500 fine and court costs for three counts of trafficking in drugs.
Scott Blackburn, 46, of Russells Point, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of heroin and was granted intervention in lieu of conviction. He must complete substance abuse counseling and three years community control.
Jarvis Magee, 28, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to 90 days in the Logan County Jail, five years community control, a $500 fine, and ordered to pay court costs, attorney fees, and restitution for domestic violence.
On June 13th, before Judge O’Connor:
Donovan Boddie, 31, of Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking in drugs. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing is scheduled for July 17th.
On June 14th, before Judge Goslee:
Stephanie Burk, 38, of Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty to two counts of trafficking in cocaine. A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing is scheduled for July 17th.
On June 19th, before Judge O’Connor:
Ronald Forsythe Jr., 43, of Reynoldsburg, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs and was granted intervention in lieu of conviction. He must complete substance abuse counseling and two years community control.
Robert Morrison Jr., 35, of Piqua, was sentenced to five years community control and ordered to pay court costs for burglary.
Cody Scherer, 24, of Vandalia, was sentenced to two years community control and ordered to pay court costs for domestic violence.
Robert Brown Jr., 41, of Lakeview, was sentenced to three years community control and ordered to pay a $500 fine, court costs, and attorney fees for domestic violence and aggravated menacing.
