The prospect of a mail service disruption Monday appears less likely, after Canada Post said it will agree to a 30-day extension to negotiate a new contract without a strike or lockout.
In a statement issued Friday afternoon, Canada Post said it is “fully prepared to negotiate intensively” for the next 30 days under an extended “cooling off period.”
“However, if the parties are unable to successfully conclude negotiations within that period, both parties must agree to binding arbitration.”
